What do these four men have in common? All of them have been inducted into the Franchise Hall of Fame.

And while you may be familiar with the men behind McDonald’s, Hilton Hotels, and Kentucky Fried Chicken, you may not know as much about Gordon Logan- but you should.

In the dynamic landscape of entrepreneurship, few stories stand out as vividly as that of Gordon Logan, the founder of Sport Clips. With nearly 1,900 stores and counting, Sport Clips has become a recognized brand in the haircare industry.

I was fortunate to sit down with Gordon for an exclusive interview, in which he shared his journey, challenges, and the wisdom gained from building and expanding his franchise empire.

An entrepreneur is born Gordon Logan was born in South Carolina in 1946. At age eight, he started his entrepreneurial journey, collecting old newspapers to sell to moving companies and discarded clothes hangers to sell to dry cleaning businesses.

“I was one of the original recyclers. It was about the money, but it was fun too.” In 1968, Logan graduated from MIT and took a job making carpet fiber in Virginia as part of a joint venture between Dow Chemical and BASF. Despite being offered occupational deferment from the draft during Vietnam, Logan joined the Air Force in 1969 and began training as a military pilot. He spent five years flying C130 aircraft based out of Texas and underwent NATO support missions across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Logan eventually took a job with Price Waterhouse in Houston in 1976 and has remained in Texas ever since.
